The Problem
The software had an old and outdated user interface for the weight and size it had acquired over the years, in addition to the fact that many features had been added, making the information architecture complex, users were having difficulty finding the main features of Profit.
Old Layout and its Information Architecture Problems
Survey of the main features
First, a survey was carried out to find out which options were most used by users in each menu before proposing a more updated and optimized interface. The final document has 73 pages with analyses, references, and metrics due to the complexity of the tool. Full Document
New Proposal
The new proposal prioritized the features most used by users, taking into account the famous Hick's Law. It states that the greater the number of options, the longer the user has to choose, and this is critical when it comes to software designed to operate on the stock exchange, where every second counts.
Pixel Perfect Icons
As this is desktop software, the icons were drawn pixel by pixel as the system did not accept SVG. All icons were redesigned, giving the software a much more modern look.
